Reading Reflection 04: Haskett
I think that chapter 10 is a good way to end the book because design is always changing. As society, technology, and everything else changes, design will surely change as well. The methods that make up the design process must be able to change so designers have to be able to create new ideas and be innovative. Designers are the most important part of the design process. That is the most important thing that I took away from the conclusion of Haskett.
Journal 10: Review of Design 200
Design 200 has to be one of the best introductory courses that I have taken ever. The beginning was an overview of the different type of design processes. I liked that the course had a great tie in to different movies ans real life examples that gave this course an actual meaning, and not just a boring lecture. I liked that we incorporated blogs into the class because it made it easy to reflect and understand what was happening in the class. The presenters that came in made it easy to visualize what it would take to do design. I also liked doing the Coleman project. I think it was the best way possible to end the class. Everything came together with that. I really enjoyed this class and I wish other classes were like this one.
CR05: the final presentations
I really enjoyed the presentations because everyone got to show how creative they could be in the groups, and I think that it was a fun way to end the quarter as well. The idea of Coleman in the home was a vary easy idea to work with, and some teams played it safe, while others tried for big products. Overall, I just liked being creative and that is something that I don't always get in other classes, so I enjoyed the projects a lot.
Journal 9: Coleman Process
For our Coleman project, the kings chose to create the induction cook top table. My teammates comprised of Mike B, Mike F, and Sarah H. We worked well together during our brainstorming process to finally come to an idea of having a table that could also function as a cooking devise. We meet at the union on several occasions and that helped us to feel at ease when everything was developing smoothly. The idea of making the induction cooking was new to me; I had heard about it but never really knew what it was.
Once we decided to go ahead with the induction cook top, we divided up the work so that Mike F would work on the research; Sarah worked on defining Coleman as well as putting the powerpoint together; Mike B worked in the logo and product designs and I worked on designing the kiosk.
I worked mainly with the kiosk so part of what I did was work on sketches.
This was the final sketch that we chose to represent our kiosk for the presentation. I did try to do a simple google sketchup model which Mike B. took and enhanced it to the final render that was in the presentation.
For the presentation on Wednesday, I talked about the packaging and how it was Eco-friendly with soy based ink, and non adhesives, and also the product information sheet as well as the kiosk.
